Region News:
It is our hope that all of our Chapter Awards Chairs have been
hard at work preparing their Chapter nomination packages for
their West Region Award nominee(s). The deadline for WR awards
is August 15th, so there is little time left. Many hard working
CSI members who have made notable contributions to their Chapters
and the Region deserve to be acknowledged. There is still time
to submit, so Awards Chairs and Chapter Boards, this week is
crunch time!
The West Region Conference, set for September 18-21st in Monterey,
is fast-approaching. The
Program Flyers for Conference Sponsors and Attendees have been
sent. We urge all who plan to attend the Conference to make
reservations now at

questions, please contact one of our conference Co-Chairs: Valarie
Harris or Paulette Salisbury.
West Region Governance surveys are due back from all Chapter
Boards of Directors by 15th of August. Stephen Nash and the
GDSC are ready to compile your feedback in a report that will
be given to all of our members at the Conference. Two Governance
meetings are planned, so all of those who wish to have input
should be at the conference to participate. These surveys will
lay the groundwork for our future West Region Governance, so
this topic is of vital interest to all of our members.
We encourage all of our Chapter Membership Chairs to attend
the conference. Membership growth is vital to our Region and
CSI. We have a wealth of information, advice and assistance
for those of you who have accepted this important role in your
Chapter’s growth and development. The Saturday Leadership
Day is your time to ask questions, share your successes and
get help if you need it.
Our WR Conference Committee has been hard at work planning and
implementing a fun and educational event and we have a full
slate of Product Show participants who are there to help us
kick off the Thursday evening product show/mixer. Speakers are
being flown in to share their insights and industry knowledge
with us. This is a first-class event and we look forward to
a record turnout in beautiful Monterey.
INSTITUTE NEWS
We are pleased to announce that Walter Marlowe, PE, CAE, Executive
Director and CEO of The Construction Specifications Institute
will be in attendance at our West Region Conference. Also in
attendance will be Greg Markling, Institute Vice President,
Professional. I believe we will also see Gulman Hu, our current
CSI President.
Institute has announced a recent report to the Federal Trade
Commission on CSI’s recently launched GreenFormat. More
information on this initiative can be found at CSInet.org.
Industry Members – the initial booth sales have started
for the Construct 2008/CSI/TFM Show in Indianapolis, June 17-19,
2009. The deadline for advance sales is August 21, 2008. You
are encouraged to book early for the best exhibit locations.
